OVERVIEW

MoTeC’s M1 GP PWC Package contains specific features unique to PWC applications, it is a versatile and adaptable platform for the operation of port-injected engines in Personal Watercraft. GP PWC is based on the GP Marine Package.

This single product can be configured over a huge range of complexities, from controlling a simple engine to a multi-throttle, quad cam boosted engine with two injectors per cylinder and many other features. Configurable engine synchronisation modes accommodate most modern engine triggering systems.

Included are numerous ancillary features, such as boost limit, knock control and launch control. It also caters for many systems found on marine vessels that may be useful in a racing context.

This Package is available across MoTeC's range of M1 port injection ECUs (M130M, M150M, M170M and M190M). It seamlessly integrates with other MoTeC products and provides pre-defined CAN messaging for all current Display/Enclosed Loggers, Power Distribution Modules and other devices including E888, VCS, GPS, ADR, BR2 and SLM. Example wiring pinouts are provided for basic operation using M130M and M150M ECU variants.

ECU VARIANTS

The Package is available for use with MoTeC's M130M, M150M, M170M and M190M ECUs. A pinout example for the M130M and M150M follows.

PWC SPECIFIC FEATURES

The GP PWC package is based on MoTeC’s GP Marine Package with the addition of the following PWC specific features:

  • Jet intake, trim, nozzle and stator pressure sensors and reverse bucket actuation.
  • Reduced ECU transmit mode for integration with vessels that have a 250kbps CAN bus speed.
  • Anti Cavitation System.
  • Exhaust Muffler Temperature Sensor & Warning.
  • Steering Force Sensor & Lock Switch (with Throttle Aim).
  • Vehicle Tip Over (shuts down engine).
  • Cruise assist.

FEATURES

  • Operates port injected engines from 1 to 8 cylinders (M130/M170) or 1 to 12 cylinders (M150/M190).
  • Control of 2 port injectors (peak and hold or saturated) per cylinder ('high/low' configuration) with tunable balance table.
  • Fuel volume calculation considers delay effects resulting from secondary (high) injector position.
  • Configurable engine synchronisation modes.
  • Configurable top dead centre for each cylinder allows for odd-fire engines.
  • Configurable ignition output pin for each cylinder allows for coil-on-plug or wasted spark and distributor systems.
  • Configurable camshaft control from 1 to 4 cams, plus 1 switched camshaft.
  • Dual bank lambda control is supported; requires optional LTC with Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor or LTC NTK with NTK sensor.
  • Configurable on-board knock for each cylinder with up to 4 assignable knock sensors (hardware dependent) and selectable centre frequencies.
  • Sensor calibrations available for many common automotive sensors.
  • Physical settings for Engine Displacement, Fuel Density and Molar Mass, Stoichiometric Ratio and injector characteristics allow for simplified engine start-up prior to tuning.
  • Easy and fast engine tuning using Engine Efficiency map.
  • Engine load modelling based on Inlet Manifold Pressure and Temperature. Alternatively, allows for throttle based Engine Load.
  • Engine Charge Temperature calculation allows for correction of Inlet Air Temperature.
  • Engine speed limiting with ignition cut and/or fuel cut with individual decay rates for smooth power reduction through Engine Speed Limit decay table.
  • Transient fuelling compensation using modelling of the Fuel Film.
  • Nitrous system with two activation stages and additional fuel pumps, bottle heater control and pressure sensor.
  • Test settings for most outputs, including injection and ignition outputs for easier setup.
  • Assisted engine start with dedicated fuel volume and idle compensations during crank and post start.
  • Configurable turbocharger boost control (using a normal or inverted solenoid output).
  • Coolant Temperature compensations for Engine Speed Limit, Ignition Timing, Fuel Mixture and Boost Limit.
  • Coolant Pump output with PWM control.
  • Coolant Pump After Run functionality, optionally with additional pump output.
  • Engine Oil Pressure and Temperature.
  • Support for up to 3 fuel pump switched outputs. Activation based on fuel flow demand and nitrous injection.
  • Fuel Flow Supply and Fuel Flow Return sensor.
  • Fuel Tank Level.
  • Gear Position detection.
  • Race Time system with trim tables for Ignition Timing Trim, Fuel Mixture Aim, Boost Limit and Throttle Limit.
  • Idle closed loop control system using ignition, drive by wire actuation or idle solenoid.
  • Idle bypass control with stepper motor supported.
  • Engine Load Average channel with tables for Engine Speed Limit, Ignition Timing Trim, Fuel Mixture Aim, Boost and Throttle Limit.
  • Inlet Manifold Flap support.
  • Inlet Manifold Runner support.
  • Closed loop alternator control.
  • Engine Run Time total for engine hour logging.
  • Dual bank drive by wire throttle servo control.
  • Throttle Lever sensor with translation table.
  • Use of a Throttle Lever sensor or Throttle Position sensor in case of a cable throttle.
  • Pulsed tachometer output with configurable output pin and scaling.
  • Vehicle Speed Limit control system (DBW-throttle based).
  • Configurable warning system with light and CAN output.
  • Auxiliary Time system with tables for Ignition Timing Trim, Fuel Volume Trim and Fuel Mixture Aim.
  • ECU CAN receive from a defined CAN ID for data reception from MoTeC devices. Support of 1 (M130/M170) or 3 (M150/M190) CAN buses.
  • ECU CAN Transmit of the most common channels using standard MoTeC CAN templates.
  • Custom CAN Transmit (4 messages).
  • GPS acquisition and logging via CAN and RS232.
  • Driver Switches.
    • 8 configurable Driver Switches, 8 Rotary Switches and MoTeC Keypad and Rotary Controller support, each with 10 positions that can be simultaneously mapped to Launch Control, Anti-Lag, Race Time reset, Engine Speed Limit Maximum, Throttle Lever Translation, Ignition Timing, Fuel Mixture Aim, Boost Limit, Cruise Set, Cruise Up, Cruise Down.
